There are numerous courses available that show people how to use a camera and that is a pre-requisite skill for all photographers. There are very few courses available that show people how to ‘see’ in the field and then realise their vision after the image is captured and yet, that is the most valuable skill a photographer needs to be creative and to develop their own unique style.

Becoming ‘visually literate’, learning to see beyond what’s there and overcoming our visual biases will awaken our creative potential and spirit. Many photographers also capture an image and then are unsure of the workflow required to maximise its potential to turn it into a great image.

With very few exceptions, images with impact that finish up in books, exhibitions and win awards all need some post enhancement to re-create what the photographer saw and felt at the time of capture. There is no correct workflow to achieve this and often the workflow depends on the style of image. This workshop will provide an introduction to creative vision.

Presenter Bio
Nick Melidonis B Sc, Dip Ed, Grad Dip Ed Tech, APP.L; M Photog V
Nick Melidonis is one of Australia’s foremost landscape/travel photographers and photographic educators and has travelled extensively in pursuit of emotive images from some of the world’s most scenic and wild locations. He is a three-time winner of the AIPP Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year and is an AIPP Master of Photography V (5 gold bars). In 2016, he won the silver medal from 27 countries in the World Photographic Cup held in Portugal in ‘Nature’ (Landscape and wildlife) category and was a finalist in the 2016 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year.
He presents seminars and workshops Australia wide and has led numerous overseas tours to Greece, Borneo, Cambodia, Iceland, Africa, Spain and India. Nick writes regularly for “Better Photography” and "Australian Photography' magazines and is a sought-after judge nationally and in Camera Clubs.
