Mailing Lists/ Newsletters/ Mail Chimp

Your small business, not-for-profit or community organisation probably needs an email list and a newsletter to really spread the word about the work you’re doing.

This workshop will introduce you to using the Mailchimp platform (free for up to 2,000 subscribers) to create a mailing list database, learn the legalities of this and hear tips on how to encourage more people to sign up to your list.

It will also cover the mechanics of sending email newsletters to your audience and then cover ways to create consistently great content so everyone wants to open your newsletter. It will also include some more advanced topics like creating a welcome automation series and some higher level techniques for getting more people on your list.

OUTLINE

During the Mailing Lists/Newsletters/MailChimp workshop, you’ll be able to:

• Sign up to Mailchimp if you haven’t already, and learn what details you need to include in your account

• Create an email list and learn how to populate the list

• Learn how to use “Campaigns” in MailChimp to send email newsletters to your list subscribers

• Brainstorm the kind of content you can use in your newsletters to ensure your subscribers open them

• Learn about some advanced features of MailChimp such as welcome automations

THINGS TO KNOW

Participants will be expected to have basic computer skills but no prior knowledge of MailChimp will be assumed. Ideally, participants should bring a laptop computer (wifi is available) so they can try some of the techniques hands-on during the workshop.
