Barbara Matters

Barbara Matters is the Assistant Curator, Berndt Museum of Anthropology, UWA.
She is a Balladong Nyoongar woman with Badimia connections on her paternal side. She has spent her life involved in the Arts as a practicing artist and later teaching art and working with working with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal women on various community arts projects.
An artist, a teacher and now undertaking a Higher Degree in Research Preliminary to a PhD in Social Anthropology she uses these opportunities to voice her thoughts regarding issues facing contemporary Aboriginal Australians whilst having the pleasure of educating the wider community to the diversity and richness of Aboriginal culture and heritage.
