Dr Shamim Samani is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Centre of Muslim States and Societies. She completed her PhD at the Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute. Her PhD thesis looks at how Muslim women are responding to the dynamics of paradigm change accelerated by globalization in two disparate country contexts – Australia and Kenya. She has a MA in Ecologically Sustainable Development from Murdoch University and a BA (Hons) from Kingston University, UK. Her post-doctoral research at the CMSS focuses on Muslim women in the WA workplace. She has also worked in the public and NGO sectors. Her research interests are social sustainability, human and gender development, community development and engagement, and multiculturalism.
