Dr Jeffery is a Research Fellow in the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders, at the School of Psychology, The University of Western Australia. She is part of the team of researchers in the ‘Facelab’ who investigate the perceptual processes that allow us to read rich social information from faces. Dr Jeffery’s particular focus in recent years has been to study how our ability to read faces develops during childhood, in both typical children and in those who have difficulty reading faces, such as in Autism. Her work suggests that, in typical children, some face perception processes develop much earlier than previously thought, and also shows that these same processes may be compromised in Autism. This research was funded by an ARC Discovery Grant and an Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship.
