Spencer Young is a Research Associate with the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions (Europe 1100-1800) at the University of Western Australia. He received his PhD in medieval history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009. Prior to working at UWA, he held positions at the University of Notre Dame (USA) and at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies (Toronto, Canada). He is a specialist in the educational, intellectual and religious history of medieval Europe. His work has appeared in the journals History of Universities, Bulletin de philosophie médiévale and Studies in Medieval and Renaissance History. He is the editor of Crossing Boundaries at Medieval Universities (Leiden: Brill, 2011) and the author of the forthcoming Scholarly Community at the Early University of Paris, 1215-1248: Theologians, Education and Society (Cambridge University Press).
