Laura King
Resume
I am a Perth born-and-bred 33-year-old mother-of-one, in the penultimate year of my Doctor of Philosophy (Creative Arts) at Curtin University under the supervision of Dr Liz Byrski and Professor Graham Seal.
I am a chartered professional engineer (Bachelor of Environmental Engineering with first class honours; UWA 2001) and hold a Graduate Diploma in Professional Writing and Publishing (high distinction overall and class prize; Curtin 2009). I recently tutored various professional and creative writing units at Curtin, for which I was warmly received by students and lecturers alike.
As a freelance writer and editor, I specialise in teaching foreign students, science/engineering students and research students to write clearly and concisely. I have been approached to edit an edition of a journal (Dot Dot Dash), received various awards for my writing, and have had an international conference paper published in New Writing.
My technical writing and editing skills have been honed via a decade of experience across the realms of industry, consultancy, state government and academia. As an eternal student at heart, I am always striving to learn and to teach.
