Mary Cullinan

Mary Cullinan[BDS-Syd; Periodontics-Uni of London; Lectureship in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Hospital] is an Assoc Prof in Periodontics at the School of Dentistry, University of Otago in New Zealand.
She spent many years in specialist practice in Brisbane and as a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Queensland. She has been active in clinical research in periodontics, in particular, the design and implementation of multidisciplinary clinical studies, as well as in basic science. She was the chief investigator on three major longitudinal clinical trials and has an international reputation as a clinical researcher.
Her main areas of interest are focused on the contribution of microbiological, genetic and environmental factors to risk for periodontal disease and on the impact of oral disease on systemic health, which has lead to an interest in health behaviour and health promotion. She has published widely in the international literature, is on the editorial board of “Clinical Oral Implants Research” and was invited to co-edit an issue of Periodontology 2000.
Mary has been recognized with Visiting Professorships in Periodontology to a number of international universities and has been a Keynote Speaker at many international conferences.
