Whether you are a new photographer or someone wanting to learn more about the basics of of digital photography, this is an ideal course for you. Digital cameras have lots of controls and features that are not used to full effect. Gain the confidence to operate your camera and its features to produce better photographs of people, places or things. This course is for anyone with an interest in digital photography for work or hobby. Discover how much of a difference a little instruction makes.
OUTLINE
Topics covered include:
- Basic maintenance – battery care, memory maintenance
- Common faults – e.g. focus
- Controls – resolution, white balance, macro, flash, exposure compensation, ISO, play, delete, format, optical and digital zoom
- Histogram
- Focus lock
- Subject modes – portrait, landscape, night portrait, night landscape, close-up, back light
- Simple portrait techniques using natural lighting
- Sending images – jpeg format, emailing made easy
- Students have the option of emailing two images for review on the day of the course.
Here’s what to do:
1. Rename your images with your name e.g. BillJones1.jpg and BillJones2.jpg
2. Resize your images so that they are 1-2MB
3. Only submit JPEG images
4. Write ‘UWA Beginners’, ‘UWA Intermediate’ or ‘UWA Advanced’ in the Subject line
5. Email to Dale Neill: UWA@fotograf.com.au
6. Cut off date is 48 hours before the course
THINGS TO KNOW
Bring your camera with a fully charged battery, 2GB memory card and your camera instruction manual.
Please:
- Read through the instruction manual for your camera
- If it is new, install the battery, memory card and any other necessary parts according to the manual
- Become familiar with switching it on and off
- Become familiar with taking a picture and viewing the picture on the screen of the camera
This course will be held at The University Club of Western Australia.
Lunch will be provided and is included in the cost.
